Controversial interfaces for a large exhibition.

Various Controversial interfaces for a large exhibition. The Ars Electronica Center, Linz Controversial interfaces for a large exhibition. Controversial interfaces for a large exhibition. This large exhibition of net art started in 1999, and appeared physically in Karlsruhe, Graz, Tokyo, and Barcelona.

The net_condition web site includes an IPIX Tour of the installation -- Internet Panorama (click on foyer to get into the show.)

The physical exhibition included a regular 'computers on tables' approach (see exhibition designer Thomas Gommel's web site). Each artwork was on a separate computer, which drew some criticism from artists.

In the Karlsrue showing, there was also an additional interface: The Net.Art Browser Network installation by Jeffrey Shaw. This was the interface that net artist Vuk Cosic left a wreath beside (see a critical interview with Jeffrey Shaw by J. Bosma about the design of the installation. 4
