Tamas Banovich is the co-founder and co-director of Postmasters Gallery, NY (first opened in East Village in December 1984, in 1989 moved to Soho, in September 1998 relocated again to Chelsea). While showing artists working in all media, Postmasters is committed to art made with new technologies (digital and multimedia works). Their now seminal exhibition Can you Digit? showed digital projects on 30 computer stations in March 1996, and was followed a year and a half later by MacClassics (the immaculate machines). Recent exhibitions include Behind the Firewall and exhibitions of the work of Vinyl Video, Sawad Brooks and Beth Stryer, and etoy.
